Information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us:

• Contact form details: your name, email address and message when you get in touch.
• Account information: if you create a free pet profile, we store your email address and pet details you enter.

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also collects limited usage information as described below. Nothing optional is collected before you accept.

How we use your information

• To respond to messages you send through our contact form.
• To provide features you choose to use, such as saving pet profiles.
• To improve the website based on feedback we receive.

Cookies and analytics

ClearPetCover uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how the website is used — for example which guides people read and where journeys stop — so we can improve the content and the tools. Analytics is optional.

Analytics is not activated until you accept it. On your first visit we show a small cookie card with equal Reject and Accept choices. Until you accept, Google Analytics is not loaded at all: nothing is requested from Google, no analytics cookies are set, no analytics data is sent, and no page views or events are recorded.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser:

• _ga — distinguishes browsers so repeat visits are not double-counted. Expires up to 2 years after your most recent visit.
• _ga_YMXND261R2 — maintains the analytics session for this website. Expires up to 2 years after your most recent visit.

Usage data collected through Google Analytics is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted. We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels or cross-site tracking, and Google advertising features remain switched off.

We also use Google Search Console, which relies on search-result data rather than cookies on this website.

Some interface features may use a small functional cookie to remember your preferences (for example, sidebar state) during your visit. This does not identify you personally and is needed for the site to work as expected.

Rejecting or changing your choice

You can reject analytics on the cookie card, and rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using ClearPetCover — every guide, comparison and Willow tool works normally.

To change your mind at any time, select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. This clears your saved choice, returns analytics to denied, removes the Google Analytics cookies where your browser allows it, and shows the cookie card again so you can choose afresh.

Your choice is stored in your browser only, under cpc-cookie-consent. Clearing your browser storage will simply mean we ask again.

Use of AI and data

The AI technology used by ClearPetCover focuses on analysing insurance information, such as publicly available policy documents and product details.

It is not designed to analyse individual visitors or make decisions about users.

Information you submit through contact forms is handled separately as described in this Privacy Policy.

Your privacy rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Object to how we use your information.

How long we keep your information

We keep contact form messages for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry and handle any follow-up. After that, they are securely deleted. Account information is kept while your account is active and removed if you choose to delete your profile.
